Play-In-Editor Resolution

The Play-In-Editor windowed game defaults to a lower resolution such as 800×600.
This can be changed to a higher resolution by entering the setres console command:

- setres XxY eg. setres 1024×768

The PIE can also be preset to always start at a higher resolution by modifying the DefaultEngine.ini or UTEngine.ini found through the My Games path. Modify or add the following .ini entries under the [SystemSettingsEditor]:

resX=1024  (or the desired resolution)
resY=768     (or the desired resolution)

Additional Tips:

- Running Play-In-Editor is not the same as running the actual full-screen game.
- The ResX/ResY settings should only be added to the <My>Documents\My  Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config\UTEngine.ini.
- ResX/ResY should not contain values that are larger than the current screen resolution, or super-tiny (320×240 anyone?).
- Adding the ResX/ResY settings doesn’t work on some systems for some odd  reason (to be determined).
- Do not modify the <Program Files>\Unreal Tournament  3\UTGame\Config\DefaultEngine.ini or the game and PIE may consistently crash.
- Do not modify the <Program Files>\Unreal Tournament  3\Engine\Config\BaseEngine.ini or the game and PIE may consistently crash.
- If you modify the BaseEngine.ini or DefaultEngine.ini and start suffering  crashes, re-installation is usually required.

With permission, I am hosting this information for the UT 3 editor.  A big thanks to DGUnreal for allowing this useful information to live on.  I duplicated the tutorials as they were given to me.  There may be information that was going to be added by DGUnreal. But take this information on this page as completed.
