Jonathan Williamson over at Blender Cookie has done a nice overview video on Blender 2.62.  Check it out here.  The UV tools, new Boolean library, and the Remesh modifier were the parts that interested me the most.

I decided to make 2 UV Test Grids based on the stock Blender ones.  One is just contains blue and black squares (each square is 32×32 pixels).  These can be useful if you use “white grid lines” as the stock image seems to blend too well with them. The other image replaces the little “+” marks with arrows, to help align the faces better. Download

Blender 2.62 has been released.  The most interesting aspect would be some improved UV tools, especially the improved stitch tool.  You can see the added features here and download it here.

I have released the different Tapinak maps from the UOF DM + EG Map packs as individual downloads.  In addition, euchreplayer23 was kind enough to cook and test the PS3 version. There are 2 DM versions (one is at night with a different item placement) in addition to a greed and domination version for those who like these game modes.  You can view the page here.

The UOF group has released the second part of their 3rd map pack.  It takes the deathmatch maps and converts them to other game types (mainly Greed and Domination). Please visit the UOF or Epic thread for more information and download links.  Here is a preview of the maps.

The recently released UOF DM Map Pack is part #1 and the UOF EG Map Pack will be part #2.  The pack will include different game modes of the DM pack, hence the name “Extended Game play”.  The pack is scheduled to be released on December 20th.

The UOF group has released the UOF DM Map pack for your UT 3 fragging fun. There is a thread at the UOF and Epic forums.  Please download the map and let us know what you think. Hope you enjoy the maps.

MCampagnini has updated his script to version 1.41, which adds an export option to “that will toggle consistent normals”, which is the same as “recalculating normals” inside Blender. Visit his exporter page and download away.

Blender 2.61 is now available to download.  You can see an overview of what’s been added, bug fixes and download.  While the additional features might not be that useful for those of us who create assets for our maps, it’s usually a good idea to update.  for those of you who create CG artwork strictly in Blender, some of the new features will really help, especially the Cycles render engine.

The final 2 maps have been added to the original UOF DM Map Pack post.  The planned release date is still December 15th, 2011.  Stay tuned for the final announcement.
